Major themes at the event surrounded AI, autonomous supply chains, geopolitical risk, sourcing diversification, and moving away from \u201cjust-in-time\u201d models.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In particular, AI at the event was positioned less as experimentation, and more as operational infrastructure, with an emphasis on decision intelligence, orchestration, and scenario planning. A lot of topics as always, but there are connections between each. Let\u2019s dive deeper into six of these key trends:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-1-adaptability-over-efficiency-nbsp\">1. Adaptability over Efficiency&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Efficiency has been the name of the game for many years when it comes to global supply chains. Closing Visibility Gaps&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another major topic at Gartner 2026 was the lack of end-to-end visibility, despite years of investment in control towers, dashboards, and modernized ERP solutions. Digging deeper, it\u2019s clear the issue for many is that visibility doesn\u2019t extend past Tier-1 suppliers. Instead, it has become a foundational element of resilience, adaptability, compliance, and faster decision-making. This is a key connection back to some of the themes we\u2019ve discussed thus far.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-4-scenario-planning-nbsp\">4. Scenario Planning&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Scenario planning is not a new topic, but at the 2026 Gartner Supply Chain Symposium, it once more took center stage for one simple reason: disruption is no longer the exception, it\u2019s the rule. In general, it\u2019s best to think about supply chains beyond just efficiency metrics.
