The disadvantage is higher shipping and inventory costs for customers on the other side of the world.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The decentralized model has been gaining adherence that challenges the global supply chain model. The value of this model is that local assembly reduces the cost of shipping the finished goods and shortens the supply chain.
